I recently saw a designer on Instagram that said: “Good design is contextual.” The argument was that Chinese users are simply used to much denser interfaces, while Western users tend to prefer cleaner, more minimal UI. But I’m not completely convinced. Is this really contextual design? Or are we sometimes confusing what users are used to with what actually works best for them? Especially when the same users can still struggle to navigate these interfaces. So, designers / UX / Product people Which one would you choose, A or B? And why?

Density and clarity are different things. I would test the task and hierarchy with the intended audience before assuming a cultural preference.
