Decided it was time to break this one out of "unfinished projects" hell 😅.
Continuing work on my React Native fast food app, this clip shows the Search and Menu Item details pages coming to life ✨.
Some highlights from building this out:
Implemented expo-image to handle image optimization and caching for a much smoother scrolling performance.
Leveraged Supabase for real-time menu data search and filtering.
Kept the implementation pixel-perfect to the design files at my disposal.

Using "useFocusEffect" from "@react-navigation/native" is often better than "useEffect" when you're dealing with screen-specific logic in React Navigation.
"useEffect runs" when the component mounts —
but "useFocusEffect" 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀, making it perfect for:
- Refreshing data when a user returns to a screen
- Re-running listeners or subscriptions
- Resetting UI state only when the screen is active
It helps keep your app reactive and avoids stale data.
