It was designing a ranking system that stays fair when the judges are the players themselves. The platform is live with an active player base.
A couple of additions that work well for self-judged platforms: give new players a provisional rating with a higher K-factor until they've played ~20 matches, so they climb to their real tier quickly instead of getting stuck low; and keep an eye on vote patterns — if a specific...
