"Sorry, I Used AI" Is Becoming the New "I Don't Know"
A few years ago, when someone couldn't explain their code, the answer was:
"I don't know."
Today, it's often:
"Sorry, I used AI."
AI helps us write code faster.
But generating code and understanding code are two different things.
Using AI isn't the problem. Using code you don't understand is.
As developers, our value comes from:
āœ… Understanding the logic
āœ… Solving problems
āœ… Debugging when things break
āœ… Explaining why a solution works
Because when a bug reaches production, nobody asks:
"Was this written by AI?"
They ask:
"Can you fix it?"
AI can generate code. Developers need to own it.
