When I listed my services here, I wasn't sure a niche like interactive Rive animation would find its audience. Turns out β the more specific you are, the faster the right clients find you.
Here's what worked for me:
π― Niching down, hard. I don't sell "motion design." I sell interactive animations, custom Rive path effects, and scripted motion that devs can actually ship. Specific skill β specific searches β better-fit clients.
π A portfolio that moves. Static thumbnails don't sell motion. Every project on my profile is something you can watch or play with. Let the work do the pitching.
π¬ Fast, honest scoping. Replying quickly with a clear "here's what it'll take" builds more trust than any cover letter ever did.
πΈ And the best part β 0% commission. Every dollar of that $1K went to me, not a platform fee.
Small milestone, but it's proof the independent route works.

Built 4 expression states for one interactive character in Rive β subtle shifts in mood and reaction that make a product feel responsive, not robotic.
This is the kind of detail that turns a static UI into something users actually remember. More expression sets coming soon as I expand this system.

After 5+ years of freelancing on Fiverr and working remotely with US and Canadian companies, I'm starting a new chapter here on Contra.
Recently, I decided to leave one of my remote roles. It reminded me that a good work environment matters just as much as the paycheck. Clear communication, mutual respect, and feeling comfortable with your team make all the difference.
