YouTube Growth & Watch-Time Manager for Storytelling Channel
About the Channel
We are looking for an experienced YouTube Growth & Watch-Time Manager to help grow an established storytelling/entertainment YouTube channel.
The channel produces original serialized African drama and family stories, including individual episodes, full seasons/full stories, Shorts and related content.
The channel already has thousands of subscribers and an established content library. Our immediate priority is no longer simply gaining subscribers.
Primary Goal
Our main objective is to reach 4,000 valid public YouTube watch hours and qualify for YouTube monetization.
We are looking for someone who understands the difference between:
Total watch time
Advertising-generated watch time
Organic watch time
Valid public watch hours that count toward YouTube Partner Program eligibility
We are NOT looking to buy watch hours, fake engagement, bots, watch groups or any other artificial traffic.
The strategy must comply fully with YouTube and Google policies.
Responsibilities
The selected freelancer will:
Audit our existing YouTube channel and analytics
Develop a strategy to increase organic long-form watch time
Optimize titles, descriptions and thumbnails
Improve CTR and audience retention
Organize and optimize playlists for binge-watching
Add/recommend end-screen strategies connecting episodes and full stories
Create a Shorts-to-long-form viewing strategy
Recommend an effective upload schedule
Identify our strongest existing videos and determine how to generate additional organic traffic from them
Improve traffic from Browse, Suggested Videos, Search and playlists
Develop strategies to convert existing subscribers into regular viewers
Monitor new vs. returning viewers
Review audience-retention graphs and recommend improvements
Manage or advise on YouTube Community posts
Track progress toward 4,000 valid public watch hours
Provide a simple weekly performance report
We currently use Google Ads for some YouTube promotion. The freelancer should understand how paid campaigns can support channel discovery while keeping our organic monetization strategy separate.
Ideal Candidate
We prefer someone with proven experience growing:
YouTube entertainment channels
Storytelling channels
Movie/drama channels
Serialized content
Long-form YouTube content
You should have strong knowledge of:
YouTube Studio, YouTube Analytics, CTR, audience retention, watch time, playlists, end screens, Suggested Videos, Browse traffic, Shorts and YouTube monetization requirements.

We prefer to begin with a 30-day trial/project.
Performance will be evaluated primarily on:
Growth in valid public watch hours
Organic long-form views
Average view duration
Audience retention
Returning viewers
Browse/Suggested traffic
Playlist and end-screen performance
If the first month produces strong results, this can become an ongoing engagement.
Our goal is not simply more views. We want to build a genuine audience that watches multiple stories and returns for new releases.
