I spent the last few months designing a journaling app called Move Into Words, and I have been itching to talk about it.
It comes from a nonprofit built on the idea that your brain and your body do better once you stop treating them like separate projects. The part I had the most fun solving was the blank page, because staring at an empty screen while you are already stressed is its own small nightmare. So instead of leaving you alone with that void, the app lets you pick a mode based on whatever is taking up the most room in your head. The prompts then bend around your answers and circle back later to ask how that thing is going, more like a friend with a good memory than a worksheet.
Privacy sits underneath all of it, so your entries stay yours and you can take them with you or delete everything whenever you want. It is not therapy, and it is not a feed for strangers to clap at your feelings. It also won't guilt trip you for skipping a day.
I would love to hear what the community thinks though. What keeps you coming back to a journaling app, and what quietly turns one into a coaster? P.S See the entire case study here: https://contra.com/p/2QkkMq2W-move-into-words-ux-design-for-a-mood-based-journaling-app
