How I made the Medea Mythology Reel (from concept to final cut)

Most people see a 60-second reel and think it took an afternoon. This one took days. Here's every layer that went into it.

1. The concept I wanted to retell the Medea myth in a way that felt cinematic, not academic. The goal: make someone who's never read Euripides feel the weight of betrayal and rage in under a minute.

2. Scripting & voiceover I wrote the narration first. Short sentences. Rhythmic. Almost like poetry. The voiceover sets the emotional pace for everything else, so I treat it like the skeleton of the whole piece.

3. AI visual generation This is where it gets interesting. I generated dozens of images and video clips, testing different styles until I landed on something that felt ancient and unsettling at the same time. Not every output works. Most don't. The skill is in knowing which 10% to keep and how to sequence them.

4. Music & sound design I scored this with original music. The track had to build tension without competing with the narration. I layered in subtle ambient textures to make the visuals feel immersive, not flat.

5. Editing & pacing The final edit is where everything clicks (or doesn't). I cut to the rhythm of the voiceover, matched visual transitions to emotional beats, and trimmed anything that slowed the momentum. A 60-second reel has zero room for filler.

The result: a short-form piece that makes mythology feel alive, not dusty. This is what I do for brands and creators who want scroll-stopping content with real substance behind it.

We started with the idea of two different worlds: one epic, dramatic, full of tension and mystery - and another one cute, unexpected, and almost too powerful for its size. Every frame had to build curiosity, like the viewer is following something important, while the real idea stays hidden underneath. That contrast became the heart of the project: a huge story controlled by tiny baby bosses - Maxim and Yanush (so yeah, it's just ourselves). [𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰] For this submission, we developed: • Story Concept • Short film itself • Characters with FacePass from two universes • Scene Concepts • Transfered real location (my room) into AI scene • Website presentation (will be in the comments) • P.S. and even some backstage video to demonstrate our workflow ;) [𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞] Renoise became our creative control room for the whole short. We used it to explore characters, scenes, moods, and story beats until the film started to feel like one connected universe. The Renoise Canvas using went pretty smooth, and it helped us to achieve the goal that was simple: make something visually cinematic, easy to follow, and original enough that the final feeling stays in your head after the video ends. Renoise FaceSwap - is a good feature to protect faces of a real people so we generated all content in canvas to got all assets approve. [𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬] During creating the video we tried to make each of our prompt precisly good so it match how we visualised it in the mind. It was excited to see some concepts and close-ups in the viddeo that Renoise generated itself, so Seedance also played a huge role in the art direction lol.

Here's THE INTRUDER 🔪

A woman wakes convinced there's an intruder in her home. The truth is so much worse.

I made this entire psychological horror short inside Renoise Canvas - every shot animated in Seedance 2.0 and stitched together right on the timeline. FacePass was the absolute game-changer for me: holding a character consistent across ~25 shots is usually the hardest part of AI video, and FacePass kept the quality and the consistency locked the whole way through. It's the single reason this feels like one film instead of a pile of disconnected clips.

I had so much fun directing this one shot by shot - having the look, the pacing, and the consistency all in one place is genuinely something else.
