Why Developers Secretly Love Deleting Code...
The day I deleted 2,000 lines of code, I felt better than writing them>>>.
That sounds strange, especially coming from a Software Developer.
Most people think developers measure progress by how much code they write and that's definitely wrong(Efficient Code Matters).
I used to think that too.
Then one day I was working on a project where a feature had grown over months. More conditions. More exceptions. More fixes for old fixes.
Every update made it harder to understand.
Then someone challenged the room:
"If we had to rebuild this product from scratch, would we build this feature again?"
Nobody answered. Booooooooommmmmmm.
Thousands of lines of code disappeared. And the result:
The application became faster.
The code became easier to maintain.
Future bugs disappeared before they even had a chance to exist.
That's when I realized something.
Writing code solves problems but Deleting unnecessary code solves future problems.
As developers, we're often praised for what we build. But some of the best engineering decisions are the things users never notice...
The features we don't add.
The complexity we remove.
The code we choose to delete.
Sometimes, the best commit you'll ever make is one with more red than green.

I think engineering judgment becomes dramatically more valuable. AI can generate solutions quickly, but deciding which trade-offs are acceptable for performance, security, maintainability, and user experience is still a deeply human responsibility.
