Vernacular Maximalism / The Village Residence

This residence explores a dialogue between earthy vernacular architecture and the vibrant spirit of rural life.

While traveling through Neelum Valley, Taobat, and the remote villages of Kashmir and KPK from Dir to Kumrat, I observed a fascinating contrast: the architecture, built from stone and wood, remains humble and grounded, yet people express themselves through bright, almost neon colors pinks, greens, and oranges even while working in the fields.

Here, the design imagines a contemporary village residence a home for someone rooted in tradition yet expressive in taste. Developed through an AI workflow using Flux models in ComfyUI, vernacular materials were reinterpreted with a maximalist sensibility, blending grounded textures with the vibrant rhythm of village culture.
