How I’d Make an AI Search Comparison Worth Reading Before asking several AI search tools the same question, write down what a correct answer needs to contain.
That’s the starting point of my latest Answer Engine Notes article: required facts, necessary qualifications, a dated reference and a scoring rule.
Then keep three judgments separate:
Did the answer include the required facts correctly?
Did it add unsupported or false claims?
Do its citations support the specific claims beside them? An answer can include every required fact and still add a false promise. A source can be relevant without supporting the sentence citing it.
Choose the repeat count before testing. Save every response and record the product mode, time and locale. Keep refusals and empty answers too, rather than comparing one tool’s best attempt with another’s first.
The useful conclusion is specific: how these tools handled these questions under these conditions. Readers should be able to follow your judgments, not just see a winner at the top of a table.
