Before you spend another dollar on marketing, check these 5 things.
I've seen businesses try to solve every marketing problem by increasing their budget.
More ads.
More content.
More leads.
More outreach.
But if the underlying process is weak, increasing the volume can simply increase the amount of money being wasted.
Before scaling a campaign, I'd want to know:
1. Is the offer clear?
Can a potential customer understand the value without needing a long explanation?
2. Are we targeting the right people?
A campaign can generate impressive numbers while attracting people who were never likely to buy.
3. Is the conversion path simple?
Every unnecessary step creates another opportunity for someone to leave.
4. What happens after the lead arrives?
If there's no structured follow-up, you're potentially paying to create opportunities that nobody develops.
5. What does the data actually tell us?
Don't just ask whether the campaign generated clicks.
Ask where people entered, where they dropped off, what they responded to, and what ultimately contributed to a business outcome.
Sometimes the answer isn't:
“We need more marketing.”
It is:
“We need to fix the marketing system we already have.”
That distinction can save a business time, money, and a lot of unnecessary activity.
If you were reviewing a business's marketing today, what would you investigate first?
