I created a series exploring how modern technology might look through the eyes of artists from the past. My custom style combines the expressive ink linework of Charles Dana Gibson’s Studies in Expression: When Women Are Jurors from the Library of Congress with the traditional Japanese aesthetic of Crane, Waves and Rising Sun from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I brought these historical influences together through intricate hatching, warm aged-paper textures, muted sepia tones, and vermilion-red accents. The result is a collection of imagined futuristic inventions reinterpreted as decorative antique engravings.
