What if McDonald’s dropped a high-fashion line? That’s the story I brought to the Relume Design League semi-finals.
The bonus challenge: build a dark-themed experience. I decided to flip a brand everyone knows and see what happens when you treat it like a luxury label.
Most e-commerce sites lean on bright visuals to feel “clean.” But dark themes, when used intentionally, can do the opposite. They focus attention, slow down the scroll, and make the experience feel high-value.
That’s why luxury brands love them. They turn simple storytelling into something immersive.
This one was a bonus challenge I decided to embrace, and it ended up being one of my favorites.
