Title: THE FOXFIRE FORENSICS: Morning After the Myth
Description: What happens after the magic fades?
For the #FLORAMuseum challenge, I chose New Year's Eve Foxfires at the Changing Tree, Ōji, a beautiful woodblock print created by Utagawa Hiroshige in ca. 1857. The original artwork captures a mysterious night where foxes gather at an old enoki tree and breathe magical fires, which farmers would count to predict the rice harvest.
I wanted to build the world around this myth by exploring the morning after. Using FLORA and Seedance 2.5, I created a 30-second photorealistic documentary video. Instead of showing the magical foxes, I built a grounded, cinematic "forensic" scene at dawn: frosty mud, paw prints, glowing blue embers left behind, and a lone Edo-period farmer investigating the scorch marks on the tree bark to predict his crop yield.
