WIP preview of the "Rolling Donut Cafe" game I'm working on. The donut, world, frosting puddles, and shop are all scripted 3D elements. Nearly all of the game logic is scripted and I'm adding custom art with artboards where I can. I really like how the little donut joystick turned out!
I'm designing this with multitouch in mind. Seems to work well on mobile
Some next steps:
🍩 Add more customer characters and emotions/states.
🍩 Custom "action button" states that indicate what will happen.
🍩 Address donut price inflation.
🍩 Sound effects. Maybe music too.
🍩 Make the game harder and add penalties for failed orders.
(As a Rive employee I am considering myself ineligible to win, but wanted to join in on the fun of the challenge.)

What started as a simple project to learn Rive grew into something much bigger. Had such a great time building it that I even made a mock game box inspired by classic retro Atari-style games.
Game is built mostly with Data Binding, State Machines, and Events (97%). Used JavaScript to bring it online and handle the firing mechanics and audio, and scripting is used for the Titan Catfish attack. I even added that classic and sometimes frustrating 3 initial high score screen, with scores saved to a Firestore database.
If I were to do it again, probably rely more on scripting & reduce use of events.
Note: Since I started this project without much of a plan, it’s currently best played on desktop. On mobile, audio doesn’t play on some levels, and there seem to be a few redraw issues.

Here is my submission for #gameswithrive. I wanted to hide a fun, addictive experience behind a simple UI. So I built a hidden dribble mini-game tucked away inside a classic landing page. Everything from the dynamic background to the game mechanics is driven by scripting and the Rive State Machine.
Rive's new scripting feature is definitely a lot of fun to work with!
My entry for the Games with Rive challenge, finally! I was super happy to put my game dev skills to use.
⚔️ Battle Stride — a card-based dungeon crawler where you lay down path cards to guide a soldier through procedurally generated dungeons, battle enemies, and collect relics.
I used Rive's state machines to drive all the character and card animations, data binding to keep the HUD in sync with game state, and listeners for interactive hover and click effects on the cards.
All the art—characters, cards, tiles, and relics—was hand-drawn and animated in Rive's editor using vector shapes, then exported as lightweight files for the web.
Audio events in the state machine handle combat and pickup sounds. The whole thing runs in the browser with lightweight vector exports.
