Why I’ve stopped chasing confidence
For a while, I thought confidence was the key to overcoming imposter syndrome. If I could just feel more confident, everything else would fall into place.
Then I saw a post from Gary Vaynerchuk that stuck with me:
“Impostor syndrome is just a fancy new word, for you're insecure. And that's allowed. You're allowed to be insecure.”
We all feel insecure sometimes. It’s part of being human.
Lately, I’ve realized confidence is overrated. What matters more is decisiveness.
Being decisive means:
- Making choices quickly and moving forward
- Being willing to be wrong
- Risking failure to create opportunity
I’m learning to make the best decision I can with what I have, and trust that I’ll figure the rest out as I go.
When self-doubt shows up, how do you keep moving forward?

@Pierré Buys Happy to hear that! It’s a reminder we all need from time to time.

@Michael Martin I completely agree, because there are no mistakes if you don't try, which means you're not moving forward
attempts → mistakes → progress

@Oleksii K. Absolutely! It’s all part of the process, and growth only happens when we’re willing to risk getting it wrong along the way.
