If freelancing had a difficulty setting, “managing expectations” would be the final boss.
Here’s the quick checklist I use before starting any project and yes, it has saved me from at least seventeen existential crises:
✨ What’s the actual goal? ✨ What problem are we solving? ✨ What’s included and what’s absolutely not? ✨ Deadline humans can realistically meet ✨ Feedback rules so you are not going crazy trying to decipher client's messages or getting feedback scattered across chats, emails and shared files.
If you try to control at least 4/5 everything will be smoother and lets you focus on the fun part.

Good one! I think with time you: 1. Naturally get better at understanding effort required 2. Naturally get better at communicating with the client 3. End up with higher-quality clients who will respect boundaries better and understand the level of effort involved
