Damage was never the flaw. It was proof that something survived.
For PROOF, the vest is designed to change through use.
Under the black outer fabric are multiple coloured layers. As impacts, friction and falls tear through the surface, different colours are revealed depending on the depth of the damage.
The motion below explores how the same vest can evolve into completely different versions over time.
Every fall leaves evidence.
Every scar changes the object.
Even if thousands were manufactured identically, continued use would eventually make each one a 1-of-1 piece, shaped by its own history, durability and damage marks.
The original inspiration was an 18th-century shot-proof breastplate from The Met, deliberately fired at to prove its strength:
The original armor was damaged once to prove it could survive.
PROOF proves itself every time it survives.

I’m starting to think the opposite can happen.
If I present 5 directions, the client now has to decide which one they like. If I present 1–2 strong, well thought-out directions, I’m also showing them what I think the brand needs.
For me, the number of options is part of the design process itself.
How many directions do you usually present to a client?
One or two, never five. Five options is not freedom, it is homework you handed the client. One or two strong directions says I made the hard calls for you, which is what they are actually paying for. Choice is a burden dressed up as a courtesy.
