We were truly impressed by the fashion plates of George Barbier, the French Art Deco illustrator who drew the Costumes Parisiens for the Journal des Dames et des Modes in 1913: flat stencilled colour, ink lines, one elegant figure per page and a French caption naming the look. So we made a short film in his style, entirely in CapCut. Costumes Parisiens · Arrivée à Los Angeles: a girl from a 1913 plate gets an invitation to CapCut World LA. She's 113 years and 9,000 km late, so she takes the peacock. Every scene is a new page of the magazine: Costume de voyage, Robe de Californie, Broche d'accréditation (the badge worn as a brooch), Robe de scène, and the last shot freezes into a printed plate, "Los Angeles, 2026", rhyming with "Paris, 1913". Barbier's originals are public domain (Rijksmuseum); music: Erik Satie, Je te veux.
