Transitional Layering — Week 4 of A/W26 Casuals & Streetwear
Wrapping up my Autumn/Winter Casuals & Streetwear series with this Transitional Layering look
The Look:
Cropped puffer vest layered over a ribbed turtleneck long-sleeve top
A-line denim skirt with a center slit for movement
Explores balancing outerwear volume (puffer) against a fitted base layer (turtleneck), with the denim skirt adding structure and edge
The Tricky Part:
Getting the shading to read as realistic — especially the puffer's quilted volume and the skirt's denim folds around the center slit
Pushed me to sharpen how I handle shadows and form
Flat Sketch Included:
Clean, production-ready technical breakdown of the same look
Shows construction details: vest's zipper and quilting, turtleneck's ribbing, skirt's slit placement

Pairing the styled figure with the flat sketch instead of stopping at the pretty version is what makes this useful to an actual pattern maker - the zipper and slit placement only matter once someone has to cut the denim, not just look at it.
Thank you, Mark! That's exactly the intent — I wanted it to work as a wearable concept AND a production reference. The center slit and zipper placement on the flats were the trickiest part to nail so they'd actually translate to cutting the denim correctly.

The grey bull with the flame horns (B) has way more attitude than the golden one, feels like it'd work on a streetwear drop rather than a finance client. Which way are you leaning yourself, and is this for a specific client or just portfolio exploration?
STAFF | Uniform T-Shirt
A uniform built around a single word, repeated. Staff, printed in small, unevenly spaced marks across the shirt. Each one placed at a different angle, mapped loosely to the twelve positions on a clock face.
The idea behind it: hospitality work doesn't run nine to five. It runs in shifts, around the clock, someone always on. Instead of a logo or a shift schedule printed somewhere, the shirt turns that into a pattern. No hands, no numbers, just "staff" standing in for every hour on the dial.
Kept deliberately unbranded: no color, no icon, nothing that reads as merch. Just enough repetition that the word stops being a word and starts reading as a mark you'd recognize across a room.
