Everyone says "build backlinks."
I think that's bad advice.
The real question is:
Would you still want that backlink if Google didn't exist?
If the answer is no, it's probably not worth building.
The best backlinks usually come from websites that:
• Are trusted in your niche
• Have real readers, not just SEO metrics
• Can actually send referral traffic
• Strengthen your brand—not just your rankings
I've seen businesses chase hundreds of links and see little impact.
I've also seen a handful of relevant editorial mentions outperform hundreds of low-quality backlinks.
Quality scales. Spam doesn't.
What's your opinion?
Would you rather have:
A) 100 average backlinks
or
B) 10 highly relevant editorial backlinks?

Can AI tell which website is actually better for a client?
JEV has been everywhere lately, so we got curious and put two different website directions we designed for the same creative studio through it.
Instead of just asking which one looks better, we looked at how JEV evaluated them from a visitor’s perspective.
The result: B came out stronger for potential clients, while A worked better as a visual showcase. Overall, JEV leaned toward B across most of the evaluation. It also gave us a few recommendations on what could be improved, which we might try next time.

Would you agree with the result?
A brand I launched few months ago is still getting clicks through Google although I haven't done any SEO for it at all. No backlinks, metadata barely optimized, etc.
However it's in a niche with a lot of search volume and very low keyword difficulty, most pages that rank first are facebook pages so ranking for certain terms was quite eays.
Planning to redesign it completely soon start doing proper SEO and see what I can get out of it. Once I'm happy with everything I'll share live what it is.
