Behind the scenes of BookaServe šāļø
Most booking tools are essentially digital calendars.
But what happens when an 11:00 AM booking fits perfectly in the calendar ā while the technician is still 35 minutes away from the customer?
That's one of the problems I'm exploring with BookaServe.
Instead of treating availability as an empty time slot, the demo considers:
ā¢ š Technician route + travel time between jobs
ā¢ ā±ļø The jobs immediately before and after
ā¢ š¦ Vehicle stock + equipment readiness
ā¢ š¦ļø Weather/operating constraints
The idea is simple:
Calendar availability ā operational availability.

Congrats to the winners, the craft on those projects is impressive.
Iād like to add a constructive note on transparency. The brief listed four criteria: problem-solving impact, owner-effort reduction, craft and storytelling. My entry (Suds & Scissors, a booking system for a solo mobile dog groomer in Portland) focused on the first two: an AI texting assistant that turns ācan you fit my doodle in?ā into a booked, deposit-backed slot, plus automated reminders, waitlist refills and no-show protection.
Iām not questioning anyoneās effort or the winnersā quality. It would just help everyone improve if Contra shared a short note on how the criteria were weighted, and maybe brief feedback for finalists. That would make future challenges feel worth the investment for newer members too.

Totally agree with you Biswas! Transparency really matters in these challenges. Your Suds & Scissors booking system sounds super practical with strong problem-solving impact. Would love to see your entry! Craft is important but real-world utility should count more. š
