I don't know what happened to be honest in the world of design. Especially web design.
Up until 2019 I think Flat design was the trend and it was everything. That's the time when Google released Material UI.
2021 I remember the brutalism style taking over the internet.
Meanwhile, I read multiple articles about the death of animation and the complexities and pages especially landing and marketing pages must focus on the semantic and typography and so on.
Forward to last year. I was in shock on how people react to some posts on X. Yes, I wasn't there before. So Maybe I am the one intruding on them. But the amount of prise on bulked landing pages, with videos not even animations. It's insane. And people are all prizing.
I am not talking about a niche like crypto, fintech, or the likes where these effects make sense, at least to their audience. I am talking about everything. I mean look at the websites of saas services, they are crazier then crypto these days. Bulked, cramped, everything is moving, glows, glass, background effects, gradients, particles. You name it, whatever go through your head is there.
I mean, we did some Webflow, Framer and so on. But the clients were targeting a niche or participating to an event where their page must be flashy.
I think I missed something. Now, with all the AI power we have. I am not sure this will ever settle down.
