🚩My favourite client red flag. And it always plays out exctly the same way:
Client: "The budget is tight."
Me: "Understood. We can adjust the scope or work around a specific number."
Client: "Oh no, just send us a proposal and we'll see if we can make it work."
Me: sends proposal
Client: "This is way over our budget. Our maximum is XXX."
Then comes the carousel – tweaking scope, licensing, revision rounds. And most of the time they still don't sign.
Every single time I tell myself: next meeting, the moment I hear "the budget is tight" I'm pushing for a number. No number, no proposal.
Haven't managed it yet. But one day. 😅
