Got this message from a PM I work with a couple weeks ago. Client asked if we could add team photo edits to the project. Wasn’t part of the original scope, but it came up mid-build. PM flagged it right away. Not as a problem, just checking if it changes the scope. That’s how it should work - transparent, no assumptions, just clarifying what’s in and what’s not. Scope creep happens on most projects. The key is addressing it when it comes up, not letting it pile up. Figure out if it’s new work or something that should have been clarified earlier. If it’s new, flag it. Let the client decide how to adjust. Most clients appreciate the clarity. They’d rather know upfront than deal with surprises or resentment later.
