When we first arrived in Britain, we lived with a British family for the first three months. Our host met us at the port in a beautiful Tesla, and inside it felt like a spaceship — absolutely stunning.
On the drive, she told us the Tesla was a parting gift from her company when she left, given to her as a thank you for the work she'd done. I remember thinking this was remarkable — companies actually value people enough to give them a car as a goodbye gift, not just a plaque or certificate.
I adopted that as my standard for my own work. I wanted to be valuable enough that clients would give expensive gifts and generous tips even when I was leaving, to build work that makes people want to thank you in meaningful ways.
My goal now is to one day have a company I worked for give me a Tesla as a parting gift. I've seen it happen in real life, so I know it's possible.
