I finally tried Astro JS. Here’s why it might be better than Next.js for your next project. I’ve been a Next.js user for years. It’s powerful, battle-tested, and has a massive ecosystem. But lately I found myself shipping way more JavaScript than the website actually needed. So I gave Astro a shot and honestly? I was surprised. Here’s what stood out: 1. Islands Architecture Astro only hydrates the components that need interactivity. Everything else ships as pure HTML. Zero JS by default. 2. Performance out of the box My Lighthouse scores jumped significantly without any extra optimization. Astro just does the right thing. 3. Framework-agnostic You can use React, Vue, Svelte, or Solid all in the same project. No lock-in. 4. Content-first design For blogs, docs, landing pages, and marketing sites, Astro’s DX feels more natural than Next.js. It’s built for this. When does Next.js still win? Highly interactive apps, real-time features, and projects heavily relying on React Server Components, Next.js is still the king there. But if you’re building content-heavy sites and performance matters? Astro deserves a serious look. Have you tried Astro yet? I’d love to hear your experience. #WebDev #AstroJS #NextJS #Frontend #JavaScript #Performance #WebPerformance
