Fade Room is a one-chair barbershop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Marcus, the owner, works alone with no receptionist. Customers used to ask "yo you free tmrw at 6?" over texts and Instagram DMs while he was mid-cut. That meant slow replies, back-and-forth over times, lost bookings and no-shows.
I rebuilt the customer side of booking, so that "can I book with you?" becomes "you're booked" without Marcus touching his phone. Customers can book in two ways:
Book it yourself. Choose a service, then pick a date and time from a calendar that only shows genuinely open slots. It follows the shop hours, Mondays off, Marcus's daily 3:00–3:30 PM school pickup and the buffer between clients. Enter your name and number, pay a $10 deposit to reduce no-shows, and you're confirmed instantly, with an add-to-calendar file and a link to manage your booking.
Let the AI book it for you. Text the booking assistant the way you'd text Marcus, for example "you free tomorrow after 6?" or "need a cut sat morning". It checks real availability, suggests open times you can tap, and completes the same booking. It never offers a slot that's taken.
Customers can book as guests, and signing in is optional. A clear step-by-step progress bar, a live "Right now" chair status and a shop info panel answer the usual questions before anyone has to ask.
