⚠️Still using npm for your web projects in 2026? It is time to make the switch to pnpm. It's important when you are using Claude Code to be aware of the node packages you are installing. You may be installing malware without even noticing.
After putting it to the test, the difference in speed, disk space efficiency, and overall project structure is night and day. If you are tired of bloated node_modules and slow install times, pnpm is the professional upgrade your workflow actually needs.
However, moving to a faster tool doesn’t mean letting your guard down. With the recent rise in malicious attacks targeting repositories and AI-assisted codebases, we have to be extra cautious. While pnpm handles your packages better, you still need to be diligent about what your AI tools like Claude Code are injecting into your project. Speed is great, but a secure, audited codebase is what keeps your projects stable.
If you want to see exactly why I moved my entire workflow to pnpm and how I am securing my AI-assisted design-to-code process against recent vulnerabilities, you can read my full breakdown on my blog: https://grevaleart.com/blog/posts/use-pnpm/
