I sat on the owner's side of a booking flow
In 2024 I founded and registered Himalayan Utopia, a Kathmandu-based trekking company running guided expeditions across the Himalayas, including Everest Base Camp and Island Peak climbs. The first version of the site was built by outside developers. I took it back and rebuilt it, and the second version is a completely different thing.
The revamp was never about the backend. It was about the customer: how they perceive the business, how the site looks, how easy it is to use, whether they get all the information they need to decide. Pretty, accessible, complete. I redesigned it around the person trying to book, not the person trying to build.
The site is live at himalayanutopia.com. React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, running on a self-managed EC2 instance. Itineraries, elevation profiles, itemized pricing, and a blog. The platform is done and the business is preparing to launch.
Beyond the build, I own the full founder scope: booking and cancellation policies, insurance research, customer protections. When a customer decides to book a trek, every step of that decision happens on something I rebuilt with their eyes in mind.
Why this matters for your business: I know what makes a customer trust a site enough to pay, because I built the business that depends on it.
The itinerary page keeps a sticky price card visible while the customer reads, with an itemized cost breakdown and "you won't be charged yet" to lower commitment fear. The checkout is a single calm page: trip summary with photo on one side, guest details on the other, no login required, and a notes field for medical or dietary needs. Every choice removes a reason to hesitate.
