The Nod: Turning "Can I Book?" Into "You're Booked"
Two Mirrors Barbershop, Pilsen, Chicago. Rafa runs a one-chair barbershop where every missed message can mean a lost appointment. The Nod helps turn customer inquiries into confirmed bookings with less waiting, fewer interruptions, and less manual work, allowing Rafa to focus on the customer already in the chair.
Rafa's biggest challenge is not attracting customers, but managing bookings while cutting hair. Every week, appointment requests arrive through texts and social media, often while his hands are full. A simple question like "Do you have an opening Friday?" can become a long conversation about availability and scheduling. By the time he responds, some customers have already booked somewhere else.
For a one-chair shop, every empty slot matters. A delayed reply, cancellation, or no-show directly affects revenue. Rafa has to choose between giving his full attention to the customer in front of him or constantly interrupting his work to manage incoming requests.
That is why we built The Nod.
The Nod transforms the booking process from "Can I book?" into "You're booked." Customers can request a service, view available times, and confirm appointments without waiting for manual replies. Behind the scenes, Rafa gets a simple command center to manage appointments, updates, reminders, and cancellations in one place.
The Nod does not replace the relationship between a barber and their customers. It removes the friction behind the scenes so Rafa can spend less time managing bookings and more time doing what he does best: cutting hair.
Because in a one-chair barbershop, the chair is the business.

Technical Notes: The project uses Twilio for SMS functionality and Resend for email confirmations. Both are currently running under trial accounts, meaning phone numbers and email addresses must be manually verified in their respective dashboards during testing. These limitations are due to trial restrictions and do not affect the overall product workflow.
