I got 5 calls booked in a week since putting my work online in a portfolio format (thanks Contra for making it easy!). Talk about law of attraction. Yeah you know that "The Secret" movie. Noone knows how it works, but somehow... it does. Here's how I see it. When you focus on something specific, and put deliberate action into it - the world around you reacts. Or better to say, universe. Almost always - immediately. Let's look at it from the other angle. Imagine your work is on the lower spectrum. You know how easy it is to get into complaining, sympathizing with other creatives experiencing the same, blaming AI and market, whatever negative stuff that comes to your mind. This doesn't do shit good to you. All it does is making your mind dwell into that deeper and deeper. And stronger your mind is set on something - the more of that you'll experience. Guaranteed. If you're in a rut and all you focus on is the negative side of it - you'll no doubt get approvals from others that it's the case for them as well, that life sucks and all that. I am lucky to be in the position where work tends to flow when it needs to, and I haven't got a proper portfolio in all 10+ years I'm in design. Yet by simply focusing on it because I wanted to - it started moving gears right after I pushed it to the world. Get out of the rut if you're in one. See what's missing. Skills, proof of work, network. Put in some action. Imagine all the good stuff that can happen. It will happen - just let it.
