The 5 things I check before turning a Figma design into HTML.
Most people think development starts when I open VS Code.
For me, it starts with reviewing the Figma file.
I've found that spending just 20–30 minutes reviewing a design can save hours of revisions later.
Here are the five things I always check:
1. Is the user journey clear?
Can someone quickly understand what the page is about and what action they're supposed to take?
If not, that's the first thing worth discussing.
2. Will it work on every screen?
A design might look perfect on desktop but fall apart on mobile.
I always look for potential responsive issues before writing code.
3. Is the design consistent?
Different button styles, spacing, or typography might seem minor, but they slow development and make future updates harder.
4. Can it be built efficiently?
I look for opportunities to create reusable components instead of repeating the same code over and over.
5. Is anything missing?
Hover states, loading states, error messages, and empty states are often forgotten—but they're part of the real user experience.
I've learned that good frontend development isn't just about matching the design.
It's about asking the right questions before the first line of code is written.
Those small conversations early in the project usually save everyone time later.

They can click through it, experience it, and leave feedback on something that already feels real. It also removes the extra design to development handoff that often adds days or even weeks.
After launch, I stick around for another week to make sure everything runs smoothly and fix any small issues.

And that's where I spend my time. Crafting the details, polishing interactions, and making the website feel like a product, not just a collection of pages.
