As a UX/UI & web designer who started a career as a freelancer from the very start, I caught myself afraid of giving feedback to other designers.
Struggling with that โ€” after all, I'm not their Art Director or Design Lead, and I'm not even working in corporate so I guess it won't be fair.
Needless to say, they're often very talented, and work hard on their design, and have more years of experience than I do, yet I've something to say :))) Years of lead generation mentoring are taking their toll.
They didn't ask yet but I like to practice, even though every comment ends up in Notes app.
Sometimes I also ask ChatGPT how senior I am leaving this kind of feedback (am I too rude? is it constructive?) and then I calm down. I'm a trainee. Just joking.
Anybody else had a problem with that?

I can relate to this more than I'd like to admit ๐Ÿ˜„
At some point I realized that feedback isn't about proving you're the smartest person in the room. It's about helping someone see their work from another angle. Experience matters, but curiosity and empathy matter too.

I can agree with that! I think whenever I have enough confidence in my own design mentoring skills, I'll be there for the design community. But for now, it's time for learning, improvements, and some more experience & knowledge โ€” after all, to give good feedback, you need to really have something to say.

You know, I think every designer brings their own background, experience, and perspective to the table. If you genuinely notice an issue in someone elseโ€™s design, I donโ€™t see any problem with pointing it out. And itโ€™s up to that designer to decide whether they want to take your...

Thank you very much for your comment and reassurance! Couldn't agree more โ€” the form of the feedback is crucial, and I'm working on these skills even though I'm a freelancer. You know, I've had many mentees in my previous career and kinda got used to giving feedback. I just love...

This is incredibly relatable! Imposter syndrome hits hard when it comes to giving critique. But honestly, a fresh eye from someone with a lead-gen background is goldโ€”it adds a business value most designers overlook. Don't hold back! ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ™Œ

Thank you so much for kind words! Totally agree about the imposter syndrome. When anyone is in need of my help, to look through their designs from a leadgen-based point of view, I'm always glad to make my input!! Feel free to reach out if needed
