Good design isn't decoration, it's retention is a line every founder should tape to their monitor. People bounce over clutter and slow loads before they ever reach the value prop, and that lost revenue is invisible so it never gets fixed. Framing UX as retention is exactly right.
A UI showreel I worked on earlier this year for a product design agency.
The challenge was finding that sweet spot between “this is too slow” and “wait… what did I just see?” 😂
The goal was to showcase their work while giving each piece enough time to actually be appreciated.
A lot of the work was in the pacing, knowing when to move, when to pause, and when to simply let the design breathe.
The pacing sounds really intentional knowing when to pause can make a showcase feel much more engaging.
