Ochi — Mascot for the World Children's Eye Care Association
The Brief
The World Children's Eye Care Association (WCECA) is an international non-profit network of pediatric ophthalmology clinics operating across 30+ countries, with a strong focus on charitable programs for underserved communities. Their services span the full spectrum — from routine screenings and corrective procedures to complex microsurgery — with a special emphasis on preventive care: daily eye gymnastics, vision training, and gamified therapy delivered through their proprietary mobile app, EyePlay, where young patients receive personalized daily exercises in a playful, story-driven format.
The challenge: create a mascot that could travel across all of this — clinical environments, mobile interfaces, outdoor advertising, sticker packs, merch, and charity campaigns — without ever losing its identity or warmth.
Meet Ochi https://www.recraft.ai/project/016922ca-c9a1-4e29-ac4d-495a168232e8 Name: Ochi (from "ochi" — eyes in several Slavic languages, and "occhio" in Italian — making the name quietly multilingual) Role: Gentle messenger and companion to every child who walks through the clinic doors — or opens the app for their morning eye workout. Personality: Unhurried but never indifferent. Ochi notices the tiny details everyone else rushes past — a drop of dew, a shadow shaped like a smile, the exact color of a cloud before rain. Slow by nature, fast by heart: when someone needs her, Ochi always finds a way to get there. What she's about: Ochi embodies the core belief of WCECA — that every child deserves to see the world clearly, and that it takes a whole community to make that happen. Design System
Body: Short dense plush fur in soft mint-green — tactile, huggable, instantly recognizable. Oversized round sage-green glasses with warm amber lenses sit slightly low on her nose, a nod to the world of vision care that never feels clinical.
Shell: Glossy hard surface in rich coral-orange with a leopard-spot pattern — bold, memorable, and unmistakably hers across every format and scale.
Color palette: Coral-orange · Mint-green · Amber · Cream · Warm brown — warm, sunny, and ownable.
Wordmark: "Ochi" in soft rounded custom lettering, with the dot above the i replaced by a miniature spiral shell — the one detail that ties the name to the character at any size.

A snail is the slowest creature in the world. She has no speed, no wings, no shortcuts. But Ochi doesn't need them — because every time she sets out to help someone, the world around her fills in what she's missing. That's not a weakness. That's the whole point.
See slowly. See everything.

Ochi as the daily companion inside the WCECA mobile app — greeting young patients each morning with their eye gymnastics routine, reacting with sticker-style emotions to completed exercises, and sending animated encouragements between sessions.
