The story starts in the 900s with King Harald Gormsson. He was known for one thing: he united the fighting Danish tribes and built a more unified country. His nickname was “Bluetooth,” possibly because of a dead tooth or a darker complexion. No one knows for sure.
Jump to the 1990s. Tech companies were trying to fix a growing problem. Devices couldn’t talk to each other. Every brand used different cables and ports. Nothing worked across systems.
A team from Intel, IBM, Ericsson, and Nokia agreed to develop a single shared wireless standard. During early meetings, Intel engineer Jim Kardach suggested a temporary name inspired by the unifying Viking king.
