Every video is competing on who can add more.
More glow. More 3D. More camera moves that make zero sense for the message.
Looks insane on Dribbble. Gets a hundred likes from other designers.
Then it goes on a real website and doesn't perform as expected.
We forgot what the job is. The job is communication. Not cinema. An explainer video has one purpose. Make someone understand something they didn't before.
The best performing videos I've made are embarrassingly simple. Clear message. Clean movement. Nothing fancy. They work because the viewer doesn't have to decode anything.
The flashier the video, the more the designer made it for themselves.
That's not design. That's a portfolio piece wearing a marketing hat.
