CapCut Futures: From Video Editing to Future-Life Editing
Project Overview
CapCut Futures reimagines the traditional video editing framework as an intelligent life-design platform. By translating familiar timeline editing mechanics into actionable life decisions, this project explores a futuristic universe where individuals can preview, trim, and export their optimal future timelines.

The visual concept bridges the gap between digital interface elements and human experiences, as mapped out in the attached infographics:
Timeline to Life Timeline: Moving from a structured video
sequence to a linear life progression marked by key milestones.
Clips to Life Decisions: Individual segments transformed
into branches of choices that shape destiny.
Layers to Skills: Stacked visual elements reimagined as
accumulated competencies and expertise.
Effects to Experiences: Visual enhancements translated into
transformative life moments.
Trim to Remove Distractions: Cutting unwanted footage to
eliminate noise and focus on what matters.
Export to Achieve Future: Finalizing the video project to
fully realize an envisioned future.

That question became Dear Future my submission for the #Base44Challenge.
We save photos.
We save messages.
We save memories.
But we rarely preserve who we were in that exact moment what we were thinking, hoping for, afraid of, or becoming.
So I designed a digital time capsule where your words don’t just get stored.
They wait for you.
With Dear Future, you can:
✦ Write a letter to your future self or someone else
✦ Add memories and images
✦ Choose the exact future date it should return
✦ Personalize your capsule with colours and seals
✦ Seal it so it can’t be read or edited before its opening date
✦ Watch the countdown inside your personal archive
✦ Return later and experience the letter as something preserved not just another notification
But the biggest design challenge wasn’t creating a way to send a letter later.
It was designing the wait.
As a Senior Product & UI/UX Designer, I wanted every interaction to support that idea.
The archive.
The physical capsule metaphor.
The vintage television.
The sealing ritual.
The countdown.
The responsive mobile experience.
None of them are there just for decoration. Together, they turn anticipation into part of the product.
I designed the UX, visual system, interaction language, responsive experience, storytelling, and complete product flow then built and shipped the working experience with @Base44.
This project reminded me why I love product design:
A good interface helps someone complete a task.
A meaningful experience makes them feel something while doing it.

Dear future capsule
Would you write something for yourself five years from now?
Stressa here! For my entry I wanted to make a little cinematic adventure about: Stressella goes to CapCut World LA!
So, she books a free trial with a rather shady 100-year-old teleportal agent. Of course the old lady mistakes her for Cinderella and sends her through the wrong portal. Stressella ends up at a victorian ball in Cinderella universe, running away before she even gets to dance with Prince Charming. Luckily, her Fairy Godmother shows up and gives her a star to travel through space and time to LA.
I chose a star because I wanted her to look like a fallen star landing right in front of the Audrey Irmas Pavilion for CapCut World LA. I thought it'd be a fun way to turn a simple trip to LA into a chaotic fairytale adventure. Honestly wish I had another 30 seconds to let Stressella meet Prince Charming. Just imagined their ridiculous little banter 😭
This was genuinely so much fun to make, and I hope you have as much fun watching it as I did creating it!

Hiii! I joined the Contra x CapCut challenge, having never used CapCut AI before. I’d only ever edited videos manually.
After three days of struggling with prompts, inconsistent characters, and scenes that absolutely refused to cooperate, I finally found my story.
I'm working at my desk with my dogs when an alien crashes into my life and invites me to LA. We travel across the universe, I get beamed onto a stage, and for a moment, I'm living the dream.
Then I turn into an alien.
And get kicked out because NO ALIENS ALLOWED.
All that intergalactic travel to technically make it to LA. 😂
