One of the biggest mistakes that Motion Designers or Video Editors make is we do a spelling mistakes. Was going through a video from another company for learning purposes and found the word 'something' to be written as 'somthing' Do you also make these kinds of mistakes?

Happens at times😂 😂 But I do spell-check twice before sharing with evn friends, leave alone clients.

Editing AI Content: The Human Judgment Behind a Better Draft

You read an AI-generated draft and find very little to correct. The grammar works, the paragraphs look orderly, and the tone sounds professional. Yet when you reach the end, you struggle to remember anything worth keeping.

That is where editing begins.

AI can produce a workable first draft, but a draft still needs someone to decide what deserves the reader’s attention. Repeated ideas, vague claims, and misplaced confidence can survive a grammar check because the problem lies in what the writing says.

Editing AI content means taking responsibility for the message, from the evidence behind a claim to the words a brand would actually use.

Why AI Drafts Can Sound Mechanical

Mechanical writing often repeats an idea while appearing to develop it. One paragraph says communication improves teamwork, the next says it supports collaboration, and the third says it keeps everyone aligned. The vocabulary changes, but the reader remains in the same place.

Generic claims create a similar problem. “Businesses need to adapt to a changing world” sounds reasonable yet offers no useful direction. Which business? What has changed? What decision does the reader need to make?

Then there are transitions such as “additionally,” “furthermore,” and “moreover.” These words have legitimate uses, but they cannot supply a connection the argument hasn’t earned. If one paragraph doesn’t follow naturally from another, adding “furthermore” simply gives the gap a signpost.

A draft can also describe a problem without showing how anyone experiences it. “Poor communication causes frustration” remains abstract. A hypothetical employee receiving three conflicting deadlines gives the reader something specific to understand.

Finally, the voice may feel interchangeable. Every subject receives the same measured enthusiasm, and every company sounds “committed to excellence.” Nothing reveals what this particular organization values, understands, or is prepared to say plainly.

The remedy starts with better questions.

The Human Editing Checklist

Before changing sentences, I clarify the audience, the purpose of the piece, and the action or understanding it should support. Those decisions give the edit a direction.

From there, I examine six areas.

1. Accuracy: Can We Support the Claim?

A confident sentence still needs evidence.

I check whether factual claims have reliable support, whether a source says what the draft suggests, and whether the wording promises more than the evidence allows.

“Helps reduce administrative work” and “cuts administrative work in half” carry very different obligations. The second needs proof of the amount and the conditions under which it was measured.

When support is missing, the next step may be research, a question for the client, or removing the claim.

Making it sound more convincing would only make the problem harder to spot.

2. Clarity: What Does This Actually Mean?

Some sentences sound complete until you ask someone to explain them. “Enable better outcomes through streamlined processes” leaves the reader doing most of the work.

A clearer version might explain that employees submit one request form instead of sending the same information to three departments, provided that accurately describes the process.

I look for the person acting, the action itself, and the result. When those elements are missing, vague language may be covering a gap in the underlying information.

3. Specificity: What Can the Reader Picture or Use?

Specificity gives an idea practical value. Rather than telling managers to “provide constructive feedback,” a useful passage might explain how to identify an unclear instruction, show where it causes confusion, and agree on a revision.

Details must come from somewhere credible. Client interviews, product documentation, approved examples, and subject-matter experts can supply information the draft lacks.

Inventing an anecdote and presenting it as lived experience would undermine that work. When an example is hypothetical, I make that clear.

4. Structure: Does Each Paragraph Move the Argument Forward?

A polished paragraph can still be in the wrong place.

I check what the reader needs to understand first, which questions arise next, and whether each section answers them. Sometimes the strongest opening sits halfway through the draft, after several paragraphs of unnecessary background.

This stage may involve merging repeated points, moving an example earlier, or deleting a section that adds length without adding meaning. The goal is a progression the reader can follow without having to reconstruct the argument.

5. Tone: Would This Brand Say It This Way?

Voice depends on more than choosing between formal and conversational language. It also involves how a company explains uncertainty, addresses concerns, and treats its readers.

An education company speaking to anxious parents needs different language from a software company explaining a technical workflow. Both can be clear and approachable, but their readers bring different questions and expectations.

I use approved brand materials and audience context to guide those choices. Adding contractions or a few jokes cannot substitute for understanding who is speaking and why.

Originality: Is There a Useful Point of View?

An article needs a reason to exist beyond covering a topic.

I look for a distinction, an observation, or a practical judgment that gives the reader something to consider. What does the organization understand about this problem that a generic overview would miss?

Sometimes that perspective already exists in the client’s notes. Sometimes it requires a follow-up question. Editing includes recognizing when the draft needs more thinking before it needs better wording.

Before and After: Making the Judgment Visible

Consider this draft:

“Clear communication is important because it helps teams stay aligned and reduces confusion.”

The sentence is readable, but it gives the reader little to work with.

Here is a more concrete revision:

“A manager asks for a report ‘by Friday.’ One employee hears Friday morning; another hears the end of the day. Adding a time removes an ambiguity that another reminder would leave unresolved.”

This hypothetical example shows the problem, explains the consequence, and identifies a useful correction. It earns its space by helping the reader recognize something they can change.

AI Can Draft But Humans Decide

The editor’s job is to shape a draft into something accurate, useful, and recognizably connected to the organization publishing it.

That takes judgment about what to keep, what to question, what to verify, and what the reader still needs. When those decisions are made carefully, the finished piece gives people a reason to keep reading and a clearer understanding when they finish.

If your AI drafts need that level of attention, I can help you bring them to publication.
