Being a better writer doesn't start with a course or a certification.
For me, it started with becoming a better reader.
As a Literature scholar and published poet, I've spent years reading fiction.
What surprised me was how much it shaped the way I think about brands.
People rarely buy products for their features alone. They buy what those products mean to them.
A meal planner isn't just an app when it helps someone build a healthier relationship with food.
An ATS isn't just software when it helps recruiters feel more confident about their hiring decisions.
Reading fiction made me realize that people LOVE stories. That’s literally how we’re wired.
Storytelling, nostalgia, and emotion are often what make people connect with brands and want to be part of them.
So if there's one thing that's made me a better writer, it's this:
Read more. Pay attention to stories.
Then bring that understanding of people into your writing.
