Who needs an invitation when you have a little imagination and a lot of fantasy?
That's how I got to the CapCut World LA event at the Audrey Irmas Pavilion. The trip was... intense! 🦄
This is my entry for the new Contra × CapCut challenge.
My workflow:
① I created the character sheet and the prop sheet for the mushroom, as well as the location sheets for a nature landscape and the Audrey Irmas Pavilion.
② I created still shots using my internal AI image generation tool.
③ I created trippy 2D/3D animated images to use as the opening frames of the videos.
④ I imported all the images into the CapCut Video Studio and used the CapCut AI to animate them.
⑤ I created the music in ElevenLabs/ElevenMusic.
⑥ I edited the videos using DaVinci Resolve.

Really thoughtful sound direction, Davies. Turning small visual details like crayon strokes, giggles, and sparkles into part of the emotional storytelling gives the piece much more depth.

Not every direction I create makes it to the final storyboard; here's one that didn't.
For a recent B2B SaaS intro video, I explored two very different illustration approaches before landing on the final style.
A: a friendly mascot character guiding viewers through dashboards and stats
B: minimal line-art, following one person's story instead of showing the product at all
Which one feels stronger to you as an intro, and why? Character design and personality, or the quieter, more narrative line-art approach?

This is my first project with Rive.
I've wanted to use Rive for a long time, and I'm really glad it now has a CLI. It meant I could build the whole thing with Claude: Codex drew Dozy, Claude wrote the Rive file, and his moods and the app screens run on a state machine instead of being baked into a video.
That's what excites me most. I'm hoping to build whole apps where the micro-interactions are made in Rive: every tap, every reaction, every little celebration.
This is just the start.
