TITLE: Vacation Cost Comparison & Budget Analysis - Tim & Susan
DESCRIPTION: I analyzed a vacation-planning scenario for a couple travelling for 4 days and 5 nights. I organized and compared transportation, food, car rentals and attraction costs across Miami, Orlando and Chicago to evaluate different budget options.
WHAT I DID:
Organized and cleaned vacation cost data.
Calculated accommodation, transportation, food and attraction expenses.
Built formulas to calculate cost per person and total cost for the couple.
Compared nine vacation options across three cities.
Created charts to visualize destination and total-cost comparison.
Applied Conditional Formatting to highlight cost differences.
Prepared a written analysis of the results.
KEY INSIGHT:
Individual Orlando attractions such as SeaWorld and Busch Gardens had the lowest total cost among the options analyzed, while the cost changed considerably when multiple attractions were selected.
TOOLS USED: Microsoft Excel, SUM, Cost Modeling, Bar Charts, Conditional Formatting (colour-coded by city), Data Comparison and Report Writing
RESULT: The completed Excel model provided a clear visual breakdown of vacation expenses and supported budget-based decision making.
