AFTER THE PARTY
The morning after the last human celebration.
I imagined a future where humanity is gone, and a humanoid being encounters the remains of our final ceremony: a table, broken vessels, spilled wine, and objects left behind.
Inspired by The Last Supper, I wanted the scene to feel beautiful at first, almost like a fashion campaign, and then slowly reveal something darker: an archaeological reconstruction of a world that no longer exists.

I found Eugène Grasset’s 1896 La plante et ses applications ornementales, a pattern book of Art Nouveau plant studies, on the Public Domain Image Archive, sourced from the Smithsonian Libraries via the Internet Archive. I used four of its plates as references to build a custom Recraft V4 Style called “Flora Urbana – Grasset Ornament”. The series, Flora Urbana: A Botanical Atlas of Modern Life, treats everyday technology as newly discovered species, each plate with a specimen above and abstracted ornament borders below. Earbuds become flower buds, a drone becomes a winged seed, a video call becomes a bed of blossoms, and an electric kettle becomes a snail. Grasset’s flat, lithographed look makes the modern objects feel like they belong in a Victorian herbarium.
The New Book of Beasts
A Medieval Bestiary of Modern Human Nature
What if medieval bestiaries described the habits of modern people instead of mythical creatures?
For the Recraft × Contra Styles Challenge, I created Illuminated Bestiary, a custom Recraft Style inspired by public-domain illustrations from 13th–15th-century manuscripts.
I used historical references from the Public Domain Image Archive to explore medieval animal anatomy, ornamental details, ink drawings, and muted natural pigments.
Then I applied the style to eight imaginary beasts, each representing a familiar modern behavior: overthinking, people-pleasing, doomscrolling, procrastination, ghosting, perfectionism, attention-seeking, and impostor syndrome.
The result is a collection of creatures that look like they belong in a centuries-old manuscript, even though their habits are very much our own.
