Full-Stack Social Network — Learning by building a Facebook clone
I built this project to see whether I could create a full-stack application like Facebook. It was a learning project that helped me connect an interface with the data behind it.
What I built
I developed a Facebook clone, working through post fetching, Firebase Storage, and Facebook and Google login.
The hardest parts were implementing storage and retrieving posts to display in the interface. They gave me practical experience connecting the frontend with application data.
Small details I enjoyed
One of my favorite features was the search bar. I closely recreated Facebook’s interaction: the search icon slides out when the input receives focus, and a back arrow slides in.
Getting that animation smooth made me happy. I also spent time on smaller touches, including hover effects on the Like buttons.
What I learned
This project helped me gain confidence in full-stack development and taught me how to implement social login.
It also reminded me how much I enjoy polishing an interface. Working through the data was challenging, while the small interactions made the process especially rewarding.
