Early in my career, I let "quick changes" eat up hours of my time for free. I thought I was being nice. I was actually hurting my business.
Now, at 10xstudio, I use a standard response when the scope starts to creep:
"I’d be happy to explore that direction! Since we’ve wrapped up the revisions included in our initial agreement, this would fall under a new hourly sprint at (price/hr). Shall I send over the estimate so we can get started?"
This does three things:
It’s polite.
It pauses the request.
It reminds them that my time is inventory.
Designers: Stop working for free. Clients: Respect the process.
