Can AI actually design a mascot worth using in a real product?
I used Grok Imagine 2.0 to create a a 'fictional' mascot for ThisDay, my upcoming productivity app.
The first result was honestly pretty bad, but after three iterations we got much closer. From there, I used a few precision edits and refinements to clean up the character and push it into something that could work.
Once the mascot was finished, I also animated it directly in Grok Imagine and exported the final video.
Still not replacing a full design workflow for me, but being able to go from rough idea → iterations → targeted edits → animation in one place was surprisingly useful.
Would you use an AI-generated mascot in a real product, or would you still prefer to build it manually?

I think AI changes HOW we create, but not WHY we create. The tools are evolving incredibly fast, but taste, creative direction and storytelling still come from people. That’s what makes the difference for me.
I work with AI visual storytelling, and I’ve realized that the prompt is only a small part of the process. The real work is building a concept, defining the mood, selecting the strongest visuals and shaping a coherent story. AI speeds up execution, but creative vision is still human.

Because the value isn't just in the final image, it's in the intention behind every line. AI can generate visuals quickly, but hand-drawn illustrations often carry a level of personality that's hard to replicate. Beautiful work!

My take is that AI mostly generates variations of what already exists, since it’s trained on existing work. True originality still comes from human intention the decisions, taste, and meaning behind every line, not just from prompting or testing different styles.
