Curtain Preloader, a component for a theatre brand called Velour.
Walking into a real theatre, you don't see the stage right away. You wait behind the curtain while anticipation builds. I wanted a website preloader that captured that exact feeling.
For Velour, a theatre brand concept, I designed a hero section that stays hidden behind a curtain on load. A counter pans horizontally from 0 to 100 as the page prepares itself, and the instant it reaches 100, the curtains part in a smooth, realistic 3D animation to reveal the hero beneath, actors mid-performance, minimal text, a ticker, and simple navigation.
The rest of the hero is deliberately understated. The curtain reveal is the moment that's meant to stay with you. What do you think of the reveal?
