Process note:
š Echo is a black screen where every sound sends a wave of light through the scene in real depth.
šļø Starting footage: one licensed stock clip of a temple corridor from invideo's stock library. The sound is original, synthesised for this piece. The voiceover is my own.
š¬ What I asked for: a black screen where each ping lights the scene by distance, built from a depth map, with controls for each wave, afterglow, wave thickness, contour lines, outlines, colour and a final reveal.
š ļø What was built: a depth map (Depth Anything Video), two "Echo" custom effects on the depth map (a Multiply layer for light and an Add layer for glow), an "Echo colour" effect on the footage, and keyframes for six waves and the reveal. The first build was done by Claude, connected to invideo Editor through invideo's MCP server.
šļø Refinement: I asked invideo's own agent (Agent Two Lite) in the editor to raise Afterglow from 0.14 to 0.3 on both Echo effects. It made the change on the timeline, and that conversation is shown in the video. I also tried a longer afterglow and a gold colour, both shown.
ā All building and the final cut were done in invideo Editor.
The Visual Aesthetic: Think Wong Kar-wai's Chungking Express mixed with Blade Runner 2049. Light sourcesāstreet lamps, neon signs, headlights, and glowing storefrontsāleave soft, directional light streaks across the dark backdrop as the camera moves.
I started with five separate night-time clips and used invideo Editor's AI editing agent to transform them into one connected cinematic sequence. I wanted the bright practical lights in each shot to feel like they had a physical presence in the scene, leaving atmospheric trails as the camera and subjects moved.
The agent generated two versions of the effect, including an editable directional streak-and-glow approximation. I chose the editable version and set the source footage to 720p before generating the effect.
After seeing the initial result, I prompted the agent to make further changes, refining the highlight response, glow, intensity, and direction of the trails. I wanted the effect to feel less like a generic digital filter and more like photographic light persistence.
The final sequence gradually builds from subtle streaks into a stronger visual climax around the passing car and running shots, while keeping the original footage visible underneath.
Built and refined in invideo Editor using its AI editing agents.
Raw skate clip ā”ļø Cyberpunk neon dream! š¹āØ
I asked the timeline agent to completely transform this scene:
š„ Neon fire trails under the board
š Time-shifting pants (white, blue, green, black)
š£ Glowing purple road lines
āļø A massive yellow synthwave sun
The agent built the custom effects instantly, and I just refined the final timing in the editor. Why spend hours manually tracking when AI does it for you?

BASS POSSESSION ā my entry for the InVideo Editor Challenge: Agentic Effects.
The effect: FOG DROWN. I told invideo Editor's timeline agent to drown my clip in fog ā it built the effect directly on my footage, then I refined the controls until every hit locked to the beat. I directed, it executed, I refined it.
